why write a will?

Most of us put off writing our Wills for years on the assumption that ‘now is not the right time.’   But given the nature of this topic, there is never a right time.

Our reasons for putting it off are many.   We may not have the time or it is too costly, and more worryingly, some  Islamic Will writing websites offer a more ‘DIY’ style Will which is not necessarily Sharia compliant, is confusing or often give no help.

As well as this, all too often, if we already have a Will, we forget that it needs updating from time to time.  Many things within our lifetime can have an impact on the ‘old’ Will.   It could be the birth of a child, becoming married, coming into inheritance, death of a loved one,  purchasing a house, extended family, divorce, remarriage, businesses venture, grandchildren, onset of old age, ill health and even death.

The process of writing a Will may seem complicated, but this is the only way to ensure that your loved ones are protected, thus giving you the assurance and peace of mind.  Our dedicated team will help arrange your application process and will explain the options available so that we can take instructions.

These instructions will then allow us to draft your Will so that you may get it signed and witnessed.

It is the only way

Preparing your Will is the only way to ensure that the right people are appointed to be the Executors to sort out your affairs, the right Guardians and Trustees for your children under the age of 18 are appointed, how your assets are rightly distributed and in ensuring that your estate is as tax efficient as best as can be.

Who needs a Will?

Not having a Will is called 'Intestate,' and as such, your estate will be distributed as per the Intestacy Rules. This means that your assets are not distributed in accordance with Islam in this country and so your wishes are not adhered to.

Some closer loved ones may not get what they deserve rightly in accordance to the Sharia, and more importantly, your children may not be looked after by the people that you wish.

Family members can end up in the courts in long drawn out complications, especially in what will be a difficult period. You have zero control on how your estate is being controlled.

Whether you are single, married, divorced, with children from a previous marriage, have grandchildren or own one or many businesses or property, we are here to help you in drafting your Will.
